We are pleased to inform you that the LGL staff, friends and family completed the 34 mile charity walk on Saturday 31st August 2013
The walkers met at the Mumfords house at 6am, and after a quick coffee and bacon roll, started the mammoth walk onto the first check point at the Sondes Arms in Rockingham.
Reaching Rockingham at 10.30am we all had a quick refreshment break, changed the blister plasters, and then continued on to East Carlton Park.
We were met at East Carlton Park at 1.15pm by a fantastic support team who had prepared us a great lunch, and we even managed to have a stroll around the park and collect some sponsorship from the public. After a well-deserved break the team put their shoes back on and started the 10mile trek onto Geddington.
By the time we reached Geddington (6.15pm) we were tired and sore but a sneaky pint soon sorted us out, and after being joined by 3 members of the Thrapston Barclays Bank team we set off on the final leg of challenge.
At 8.30pm we had done it! Strolling into Brigstock and being welcomed by our support team once again.
It was a hard day, but most enjoyable, and it is wonderful to know that everyone who set out to walk the whole 34miles managed to do so. To view photographs from the day please click here.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported this challenge and a massive WELL DONE to all who completed the walk.
Kind donations from passers by on Saturday totalled £278 and has helped us reach 75% of our £5,000target. If you would still like to offer a donation please visit our Just Giving page.
Once we have collected in all of the sponsorship money we will be organising a formal presentation to both Macmillan Cancer Support and Lakelands Hospice. We will obviously keep you well informed of this.
Once again many thanks for all of your donations, support and kind words. Now the question is….what do we do in 2014?
