We are currently assisting with the restoration of the 16th century Dower House on the Fawsley Estate, Northamptonshire. Last inhabited in 1704, this Grade II listed building, also a scheduled ancient monument, is now in ruins. As a result of its state of disrepair it was placed on the ‘Heritage at Risk’ register in 2014.
We are working with Historic England and Natural England to stabilise and restore the building to a safe state. We completed a series of bat surveys in summer 2014 with bats found to be using the area for foraging. The restoration works will not impact upon any bat roosts, however we are continuing to supervise any key areas of work to ensure that they are carried out in a way that is ecological sensitive with no harm to potential bats.
