We are proud of our strong company culture
We invest in our staff's personal and professional development
We actively encourage all staff to design a Personal Development Plan, which incorporates internal and external, professional and personal training requirements, in order to develop knowledge, skills and career development. These plans are prepared during an annual appraisal with Line Managers, then reviewed and amended (if required) on a quarterly basis.
We are happy to support all training opportunities in the form of time, financial and internal advice.
Over the past few years we have also developed a Graduate Training Programme which all Graduates joining the company will work through over the first 13 months of employment. I joined Lockhart Garratt on the Graduate Training Programme in 2013. Since then, the company has always supported both my personal and professional development. They’ve always been keen to invest in training that will take the company in new directions. Stephen Westmore
Lockhart Garratt is pretty unique in that it is an expanding company, yet still maintains a ‘family’ feel. Despite being split between two offices the links between staff and projects are exceptionally close. This is probably down to the company’s approach to teambuilding and social events. Richard Heath
I enjoy working at Lockhart Garratt because it allows me to develop working relationships with other land managers and clients, and to adapt scientific principles to suit the individual land holding. It’s also rewarding to explain to a client how an “unprofitable” woodland can better meet their objectives without costing lots of money. As the person responsible for individual client accounts, financial targets for each month are clearly communicated and it’s easy to keep track of job profitability, while the Forestry team are happy to give advice if I’m uncertain on how to approach a problem. There is also lots of encouragement to contribute to the wider forestry sector, and the business has good links with other organisations to enable this. When I needed to work part-time because of family requirements, the company was very understanding and straightforward about it, which has greatly improved my work-life balance. Rob Stockley
I like working for LG because I work with some amazing people; knowledgeable, supportive and humorous and the comradery within my team is second to none. My day-to-day job is interesting and varied and although I work a lot of unsociable hours, LG provides me with the flexibility I need to enjoy a good work/life balance. Jo Underwood
