Client: South Derbyshire County Council
South Derbyshire District Council instructed us to carry out Landscape Character Assessments on land surrounding twelve villages within their district. This work was to be used as a planning tool to help in the identification of areas which would be suitable for growth.
The study assessed the landscape in terms of historic, biodiversity, geological, connectedness, visual amenity, and existing relevant study assessments. This information was used to define how sensitive the landscape is to receiving development, to ensure that the growth required to meet national targets would not lead to the loss of highly sensitive components in the landscape.
