Ascott Estate is located on the borders of both Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The estate consists of 4,400 acres of land much of which is arable, grassland or woodland. The centre of the estate is known as Ascott Park which is now under ownership of the National Trust. The park includes both formal and informal gardens and parkland.
We were approached to aid the cataloguing of key trees in the estate parkland. This was conducted by recording tree species and plotting their position using a handheld GPS device. This then enabled us to present an electronic plan as well as a printed formal plan which shows all tree locations and respective species. To supplement this plan a detailed schedule containing the findings of the tree survey was also provided. This information has now enabled the estate to take a proactive approach to managing and retaining trees within the parkland area.
