What Can a Landscape Company Do For You?
The term landscape company seems rather broad if you’re not already well versed with what it is they do. In truth, they generally are quite broad in terms of their scope and offering, often providing everything from landscape services to woodland and forestry management. Here at Lockhart Garratt, we offer an extensive variety of different landscape services, from landscape architecture to landscape valuations. With that in mind, we thought we’d run through some of the main services that a landscape company such as ours can provide for you.
Woodland Maintenance Companies
Landscape Master Planning & Urban Design
Whether it be a commercial, leisure, or residential scheme, such developments need planning on a huge scale; such overarching works require a huge amount of planning, skill, attention to detail, and communication. Our landscape architects have worked extensively in the past to masterplan such developments so that the resulting landscape which surrounds any development complements and enhances it, rather than feeling mismatched or disjointed in any way.
Building with Nature
A relatively recent addition to the British planning and development framework, the UK’s Building with Nature standard is its first green infrastructure benchmark. Through its twelve various standards – which assess everything from design to public benefit, from the promotion of healthy living through to the interconnectedness of habitat networks – it helps developers plan for greener projects, moving forward. At Lockhart Garratt, we’re qualified to assess using this standard, so that developers can play their part in leading a more environmentally and ecologically conscious future.
Natural Capital
A complex field, natural capital refers to parts of the environment that serve as assets or are valuable to people in some way. As a landscape company, we provide a range of natural capital services, including baseline assessments, matrix developments, opportunity mapping, the evaluation and development of commercial opportunities, both project development, and subsequent management, and stakeholder engagement.
Expert Witness
Lockhart Garratt has previously provided expert witness services on behalf of both the public (councils and boroughs) and private sector (trusts and housing groups) to successfully overturn planning rejections and support the appeals process. Our team members are all highly regarded within their field and we have a high success rate at supporting whatever appeal or proposal we’re working with
Landscape & Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs)
Using both CGI visualisations and digital terrain modelling software, Lockhart Garratt is able to better understand and convey the potential impacts (both on the landscape, and visually) of any proposed developments, including zones of theoretical visibility – the area from which a development could conceivably be seen upon construction. Such assessments are crucial, particularly in urban and urban fringe areas, where developments are likely to impact more people than their rural counterparts.
