Once again the Green Belt designation is challenged. Surely the answer is not to fence off this often overvalued landscape from development, but to change the approach that we take to development within it? A Green Infrastructure approach to development within these areas would be a win for everyone – landscape character maintained, provision of quality open spaces, and the natural processes such as carbon sequestration and floodwater storage continue unabated. Nibbling off areas of Green Belt to alleviate 5 year HLS is not the answer. A policy change is!
