Annual claim deadline extended

Annual Farm Woodland claim submission has been extended to 15 June 2020, without penalty.  This includes Farm Woodland Premium Scheme (FWPS) and Farm Woodland Payments (FWP).  Claims not received by this new date will incur a 100% late claim penalty.  Claims which are received by 15 June 2020 but are missing information have until 30 June 2020 to provide the information.

The same deadline extension also applies to Countryside Stewardship Revenue Schemes (e.g Higher-Tier and Mid-Tier).  A 1% penalty (of the total payment for that claim year) will be applied for each working day that the claim is late.

Please liaise with our Forestry Team if you require any assistance with your claim submission.

Woodland Carbon Fund

Landowners, land managers, local authorities and public bodies can apply to the Forestry Commission for support to plant large-scale productive woodland under the Woodland Carbon Fund.

The scheme offers capital funding for the creation of new productive woodland for carbon sequestration.  This includes the planting of trees and costs of protection items including tree guards, fencing and gates. You can also obtain funding for the installation of forest roads and recreational infrastructure.

A one-off capital payment of £1,000/ha is available in year 5 following successful establishment.

Successful applications could receive £6,800 – £8,500/ha capped for 10ha+ schemes.

Applications can be submitted all year round, with the Forestry Commission aiming to respond within 3 months.
