Justin Mumford was proud to be part of the industry wide team which saw the launch of the new Climate Change Accord at the recent CLA Game Fair by the DEFRA Minister, Rory Stewart.
Justin “we have to start planning now in order to create a resilient wooded landscape for what will be an uncertain future. It should, however, be seen as a real opportunity as forestry has huge potential to offer a pragmatic and commercial solution to many of the constraints ahead”.
Through our involvement with the new Accord we are committed to encouraging all our clients to consider a greater diversity of tree species, seed provenance and alternative silvicultural systems. Such considerations will give forests a greater chance of thriving in the face of climate change.
To gain a better understanding of current practices and encourage the sharing of skills and experience between organisations and landowners, throughout the woodland sector, we are now asking all of our clients and contacts to complete the British Woodland Survey 2015. This survey will be running until 15th September 2015. The eagerly awaited results of the survey will be presented at the RFS Annual Conference on 1st October 2015.
