On Tuesday 5th November we were delighted to welcome over 45 planners, developers, housebuilders, architects, land agents, landowners and farmers to The Great Barn, Aynho, for our 12th business breakfast event.

Our speaker was Hugh Taylor, CEO of Roadnight Taylor who provided a very enjoyable and interesting talk on “What’s hot and what’s not in energy?”.

Hugh comes from an Oxfordshire farming family and has been in the energy sector for over eight years.  During this time he has been involved with well over 500MW of large-scale and commercial-scale energy schemes for private, corporate and public sector clients across a range of technologies.

Hugh sits on expert panels for all six of the UK’s Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) giving him first-hand knowledge and understanding of their procedures and ongoing strategies.  He also has a deep understanding of National Grid’s Capacity Market and its various balancing markets.  Hugh is a regular consultee to BEIS and Ofgem, as well as a popular speaker at industry events.

Hugh’s talk discussed why energy costs have doubled since 2010 and why another doubling to 2030 is projected, leading to organisations to seek quick-fixes and prudent investments that will also support their climate-related CSR objectives – and mis-selling rife amongst energy installers, developers and brokers.

As always at our Business Breakfast events, there was ample opportunity for our guests to ask questions, network with fellow professionals and discuss other pertinent topics.

We were delighted to receive great feedback from the event, with all attendees rating it as either excellent or good, and stating that they would recommend the event to others.

Hugh comments “I thoroughly enjoyed addressing such an engaged, enthusiastic and diverse audience of both professionals and business leaders.  The conversations before and after were fascinating too, and provided really stimulating food for thought”.

Our next Business Breakfast is scheduled for 21st April 2020, with our speakers Andra Stopforth and Jim Roquette of Natural Capital Solutions already confirmed.  Andra and Jim will be “Putting monetary value to environmental gain”.  Further details and formal invitations will be circulated in the New Year.  However, if you would like to add your name to the invitation list please contact [email protected].
